Kathryn Anderson v. Washington State University

Washington State University hired Dr. Kathryn Anderson as a post doctoral research assistant. Shortly after starting work she exercised her right to ask for a workplace accommodation regarding her disability. Dr. Anderson’s supervisor initially granted the accommodation but, months later, revoked it and, in revoking the accommodation said, in a snarky tone, “who requests an accommodation the first week of work anyway?” Feeling discriminated against, Dr.  Anderson, on May 21, 2018, reported her supervisor’s actions to HR. That same day, her supervisor said that he was “done with Kat” and an email from the supervisor’s secretary (also sent May 21, 2018), contains a cut and paste reference to the WSU employee manual on how to fire someone. A short time later WSU terminated Dr. Anderson’s employment. A copy of the complaint is available here.
